Dear Mr. Rupprecht:

The Nebraska Department of Agriculture, Food Division, is responsible for the food safety and sanitation inspections of commercial establishments in Nebraska. We follow the 1995 Food Code recommendations of the Food and Drug Administration.

Although we recommend employees and customers wear shoes in the establishment, there is no direct reference in the Food Code. Allowing or disallowing patrons to enter the establishment without shoes would be the option of the establishment management.

I hope this answers your question. If I can be of further assistance, please contact this office.

Sincerely,

BUREAU OF DAIRIES AND FOODS
